The Curse of Knowledge

The curse of knowledge works like this: the more information we have about something and the more experience we have with it, the harder it is to step outside that experience to appreciate the full implications of not having that privileged information.

Information that is at the forefront of our minds exerts a pull on our ideas of what other people will know or should be able to figure out. Once we know something (or think we do), it shapes our expectations of what other people are likely to know and do and even affects our memories of how we felt before we knew it.
