Dealer Notes

Two Magic dealers have shown up on my radar that deserve recognition: eBay’s House of Chuckles and Florida-based Playing Card Deck. I made rare purchases from both recently. The products and customer service were tops from both.

I picked up one of House of Chuckles’ gaffed Bicycle decks. It’s 56 gaffed cards ranging from misindexed to cards for Bro. John Hamman effects. Cards that a card crafter like myself can’t easily make. They’re well printed on Bicycle card stock. They also offer a range of gaffed and specialized decks. Highly recommended.

From Playing Card Deck, I found a packet trick wallet that holds 20 effects. It’s from TCC but PCD seems to be the only dealer that has them in stock. I also purchased a two pack of Tally Ho circle back and a two pack of the reissued Arrco cards. I remember these from the late 1970’s/early 1980’s when everyone from Eugene Burger to Paul Harris was using them. The reissues have the same excellent quality but no longer come wrapped in aluminum foil. As an added bonus, PCD packs the cards in plastic protective cases. Another highly recommended dealer.

As many may remember, Penguin Magic purchased Hermetic Press in 2016. Since that time, they’ve released books under the Hermetic Press imprint as well as their own. There’s been some interesting titles as well as one controversial title. What I find curious is the lack of promotion. They hype the latest trick but very little about the books. The recent reprint of Dean Dill’s book is case in point. Curious indeed….

Speaking of books, I expect that one of Vanishing Inc’s Black Friday deals will be the release of Neil Tobin’s collection of Clayton Rawson mystery novels. If so, I expect to be making a purchase.
