An early mentor of mine used to say that certain magic props and books were priced high to “keep them out of the hands of the riff-raff.” He was being facetious but I believe it was based in an element of truth – particularly in the domain of mentalism.
Recently a new version of an old prop was introduced – the Hybrid Cup. In case you haven’t seen it, it’s a chop cup that starts at $349.00. You select various options and your custom, bespoke cup arrives at your doorstep. It’s made by the same company that makes $200 close up pads.
I have a lot of questions about these products. Starting with – why? Why would you make such a thing? Why would you buy it? Why do you think it’s going to make you a better performer?
Honestly I think it’s a bit nuts.
